FAQ

Where is your office located?

My office is located at the following address:

3870 Ponte AvenueAddison, TX 75001

What do I do to get started?

Click on my calendar https://calendly.com/annsattar and schedule a no-pressure, free consultation. We will discuss your situation and see if we are a match to work together. If we are both in agreement, we will get you scheduled to be in the program. If for some reason it’s not a match, I’m happy to give you some referrals.

What is the Grief Recovery Method® program?

It’s a once-a-week, face-to-face meeting that gives you the tools, space, and support to work through and release the pain of a major life loss.

The program lasts 7 or 8 weeks, although, because the grief process is so unique and individual, occasionally additional time is required for completion.

How is Grief Recovery different from therapy?

The Grief Recovery Method® is a series of steps specifically designed to help you recover from major loss within a set time frame. Unlike traditional therapy, The Grief Recovery Method® comes with a pre-established framework, a distinct focus on grief, and a limited number of meetings.

Do you accept insurance?

I am private pay which means no insurance is accepted at this time. I can provide you with an invoice that you could present to your FSA or HSA to see if it would be a covered item.

What’s the difference between one-on-one and group programs?

In a one-on-one program, you will work directly with me, Ann. You’ll hear my story and get direct support from me throughout.

In a group program, you’ll work with me as well as others. You’ll hear not only my story, but the stories of others… and get support from the group through the later weeks of the program.

What losses are okay to work on?

All losses are welcome. Death, divorce, and loss of health are some of the most common, but there are over 40 different kinds of losses that can cause grief.

What can I expect from our time together?

During each 60-minute session, you will be welcomed into a confidential and non-judgmental space where you will be expected to share the truth of your story as it happened to you. You’ll also be expected to complete weekly reading and homework assignments.

From me, you can expect open ears and an open heart ready to receive your story. I will walk with you through the program every step of the way.

What should I bring?

Bring a notebook and pen. Books and worksheets will be provided for you.

Will I have to lie on a couch?

If we were going for nap time, there may be a couch involved. You will actively participate in our sessions, so we will stick to chairs.

Do I have to cry?

Everyone is so unique in their journey. With that said, whether you cry or not, we recommend you let that be okay. For those who wear mascara…..I switched to waterproof about three years ago, and no longer manage my feelings because I’m concerned with my makeup running down my face. 🙂 Believe it or not that was a “thing” for me at one time, but it may not even be a factor at all for you.

Do I have to attend every session?

Yes. If you miss a one-on-one session, you’ll be asked to reschedule your session with the possibility of incurring a fee.

I am here with you as a loving and supportive force to help you every step of the way. You are not alone!

Dogs or Cats?

I grew up with two cats and a dog. When I moved out on my own, I tried a bird – but it wasn’t the same. Since my husband was allergic to cats, we had a dog; and I have a dog currently whom I love dearly. But don’t worry. If you are not into pets, it’s no problem.
